Hello,

Firstly let me thank your efforts and work to develop de MIUI XJ, you did a great job!

I'm writing this words to be sure about which steps are necessary to install a new MIUI XJ release:

I'm running a MIUI XJ 1.7.17 apps2 ext version on a HTC desire GSM, yesterday I updated from 1.17.08 to 1.17.15, and I lost my user data settings. I read that the only previous steps necessary to update from a previous MIUI version is to wipe cache and dalvik cache and that's what I did.

My question is:

With this MIUI XJ, wiich cache is necessary to wipe? I don't wanna set all the user data again every time I update to a new ROM version.

Thanks again for your help.
Best regards
Nico

I'm not using MIUI XJ as I've got an HD2, but there are update packages and even an app for it within the ROM. Which package did you use for the update? Otherwise, you should use the MIUI backup application to backup and restore the personnal data. I hope someone that knows the thing a bit more than me will come by here and be able to help you if I can't.

Hello guys,

Thanks for your reply,

The package that I used was:

MIUI XJ D2EXT X-PART 1.7.15 - 2.3.4 GS 3P FINAL
http://htcfanboys.co....s&showfile=220

Like I said, I read that if you have a previous MIUI ROM installed, and you wanna update it, you need to wipe cache and dalvik cache previously, but I wanna ensure that I'm following the right steps.
I guess, and that's only a guess, that this particular MIUI XJ ROM, does something different (probably a wipe of caches) during the installation process, and that's why I lost the user data, because I did the wipe before.

On the other hand, I read that the traffic monitor feature ins no longer included in the MIUI core ROM, is it true? Do you know where I can find the app or script to install it?

Thanks again for your time
Regards
Nico

Hello,

It happened again, after updating to 1.7.22 data to ext, the user data and settings disappeared.
Fortunately, I did a full backup before the update, because I was afraid it will happen again, but I must say that after restoring it I found several problems:

-Widgets installed, as Beautiful Widgets, Facebook, Google+, needed to be re-installed and asked for user and login again.
-Wall and Lock Screen pictures disappeared

Please, it is so annoying having to re-set and configure everything each time I update the ROM, I don't wanna do it every week as you can imagine.

I would appreciate if someone can help me, what is going wrong?

This time, before updating, I just did a Dalvik cache wipe, that's it.

Thanks again
Nico

Sorry for thé long replies, I'm in holidays so not very conveniant with the phone.
I think you should try without a dalvik cache wipe. Actually I read XJ thread and he says to Install it without wipe. Dalvik cache is your android personnal database. The system uses it for its own optimisation. It must be wiped when changing to a different ROM, if you stay on the same base, try not to wipe. Anyway I guess the problem shouldn't be dalvik cache but we never know. ;)

Hello,

No worries for the delay, I agree, I believe the dalvik wipe has nothing to do with this issue. Like I said I believe this update script is doing something during the process (probably a wipe)
anyway still don't know the proper method or what is causing the issue.

Thanks anyway

Hello,

Yes I did try, but the updater just downloads the new file to upgrade
If you can ask him I will appreciate it.

Thanks again

Ok, so since last time, according to many posts on XJ thread, I saw that the recovery is very important. It seems that some recoveries does not work well with the ROM. So what is the recovery you are using?
